Hello Claremont.

We are a group of moderate Claremont taxpayers that believe in sensible policies, balanced positions and reasonable solutions for our schools.

While we absolutely share concerns about the tax burden in Claremont, we believe that public schools are essential for the viability and growth of Claremont, and are a foundation of American democracy.

We want to eliminate waste anywhere it occurs and exercise fiscal restraint everywhere, but at the same time ensure an adequate education for every kid in Claremont. And that includes sports, arts and extracurriculars.

We also believe that the underlying, central issue in school funding lies in the State’s unfair school funding model, which favors wealthy districts and requires less wealthy districts to raise tax rates to absurdly high levels. Adequate funding for public schools, according to the NH constitution, is a state responsibility.

And we abhor political gamesmanship and trickery. We believe that policies should be clearly communicated and openly debated and decided by well informed voters.

We urge you to vote in the School Election on March 10. And to vote YES for Articles 1 through 7 and NO on Article 8.
